Share Animal Data

Please share your observations of North Carolina’s rare animal species with us!

An efficient way to share animal observations with us is to enter them into community science platforms established for various taxonomic groups, including eBird, HerpMapper, and iNaturalist - please see table of links below.  NCNHP gathers data from these platforms annually at the start of the calendar year and incorporates them into our database to guide conservation planning and environmental review.

If you have observations you would like to share directly with us, please complete our Rare Animal webform.

Contribute data to HerpMapper

Contribute to the NC Bird Atlas through eBird

*With few exceptions, NCNHP only enters data for breeding observations of tracked bird species.

Contribute data to our iNaturalist project

*When you join the iNaturalist project, select a Trust level you are comfortable with. iNaturalist obscures the location of sensitive taxa and trusting our project ensures we get the most precise data.
